Mini Garden Painting

Well, the week is almost over!  Wow..it is really flying by!  Hope all is well with you, I have just been painting away in my little studio!  Here is a mini painting inspired by my garden that I just completed:

I just love summer...I feel like everywhere you look there is some sort of inspiration:)  Well I am off, I have LOTS of errands to do but hopefully I will get some painting time in today:)

Rainy Friday= Productive work day

Hello!  I have been on spring break for the past week (sadly it ends Monday!) and have been truly lucky with the weather for the most part.  All last week it was in the high 70's and low 80's!  However, I did not get anything done art-wise because ALL I wanted to do was sit in the sun and read!  Yesterday was not such a pretty day though.   Thankfully I was actually able to get some painting done!  Here is one painting that I think I almost finished:

I still need to work on the fruit and bench a little more but it is almost there (I think!)

And here is another painting I did in the style of Andre Derain.  He is an amazing French painter who used color much like Matisse.  I am currently obsessed with his art right now!  Here is my interpretation of  his Blue Oak painting (which I can't find a picture of online for some reason!)

So I was actually happy that it was kind of gross out yesterday so that I could focus and get some painting done!  I forgot how therapeutic painting is for me:) Well the sun is shining out right now so I am off to go running but I have a feeling that the painting bug is here to stay and I might do some more painting today!  Have a lovely Saturday!

Sunday Painting Show and Tell

Good morning (or afternoon...depending on what time of day you are reading this!)  I hope you have had a lovely weekend!  It was sunny and not too cold here in Ohio yesterday!  All of my bulbs that I planted last fall are starting to come up:)  Very exciting!

I recently started taking an acrylic painting class on Thursday nights and I wanted to show you some of the paintings I have started on.  Both paintings are not finished by any means, but I thought it would be fun to show their progress!

This is a little garden scene that I found in an old Martha Stewart magazine (I have a whole collection!)  I just fell in love with this picture and had to paint it.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a little set up like this in your backyard?  This painting above is actually cropped!  The right side is giving me trouble, so I will post the entire picture when I have finished it!

The scene below is painted from a picture I took when I was in Florence.  I posted a small sketch of this last week also!  This painting still needs some major work on making the lines a little straighter, but hopefully I will finish it soon:)

So there you have it!  There is my show and tell for today!

Have a lovely day:)
