Here are some items that were on my cluttered desk tonight. I am really trying to do something creative every day (New Year's Resolution!) and so I decided to do a little still life drawing. Of course the paper I used was a little larger than my scanner so some of my drawings are cut off...next time I will use smaller paper:)
Hope your day was wonderful...will post more drawings soon!

Winter
It is official...Winter is here to stay for awhile! In Ohio we barely had any snow before Christmas but on December 26th, we started to get the lovely white stuff. I love snow...I think it is beautiful!
Here is some winter-inspired pictures:
View from my kitchen window into my backyard

Some beautiful snow covered trees in my backyard

Snowflakes!

These little still- lives in my kitchen remind me of winter. I just love white on white! I think it looks so clean and fresh!

Well I am off to run outside in the snow! Here is a song I will be listening to on my run:
Have a lovely day:)

Simple Pleasures 2
I did a post a couple of weeks ago called Simple Pleasures. Here is the second installment to this series!
This little still life:

These delicious strawberries in my favorite Michael Aram bowl:

This lovely container that holds my cooking utensils (that I rarely use...the husband does all of the cooking!) I love the color and the organic shapes of the pattern!

This photo of my dad and me from my wedding. I love how candid it is! I hate posed pictures...so boring!

This vintage book on birds...very inspiring!

My collection of shells...I just love their shapes and how they all look together.

What are some of your simple pleasures?

10 minute sketch: Water and apple...so boring

Here is today's 10 minute sketch. Actually it probably was more like a 5 minute sketch...but I got it done at least! Doing something quick is better than nothing! It is a boring one...I am pressed for time so I drew 2 things on my kitchen table: an apple and a glass of water. I only used pen to see if I liked black and white sketches opposed to my colored ones. I am still deciding...what do you think..colored or just plain black and white?
I actually just started a blog for my art classes and I will be posting artwork on there as soon as I get a second! Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Watercolor Sketches
Wow! 2 posts in one day! I will even be posting one of my 10 minute sketches later so that will make 3 posts! I am posting some watercolor sketches my painting students completed awhile ago. I had them hanging on a bulletin board and was unable to photograph them well. These sketches allowed students to play around with watercolors and try different techniques such as masking fluid, rubbing alcohol, salt and lifting out colors. If you would like to see a cool site that has a ton of free demonstrations on these techniques, click here.. If you still have not entered my art giveaway please do so!!!!
